The area which has been investigated is located in the southern part of the
Marmara region that is being in Karasi landscape. The aim of this present work is to
determine and mapeing the geomorphological characteristics of the valley Simav
stream and of the adjacent region between Sındırgı and Bigadiç depressions.
The Simav stream valley between Sındırgı and Bigadiç depressions was
opened in a plateau region that separates of lower lands. The elevation of the plateau
is changed between 350 and 450 meters. There are Kocakayran, Eğrekkıranı and
Armutlu gorges which were opened in the Simav side of this plateau. This
characteristics gorges and formation mechanisms occur important clues on the
explanation of geomorphological evolution of the investigated area.
