Anne babaların ebeveynlik becerilerini desteklemek, onları çocuk gelişimi ve eğitimi konusunda bilgilendirmek temel amacıyla uygulanan aile eğitimi programları oldukça önemlidir. Aile eğitimi çalışmaları, anne babaların ihtiyaçlarına yönelik düzenlendiğinde katılım oranını artırmak ve istenilen hedefe ulaşmak mümkün olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, pilot olarak seçilen bir okulun anasınıfı öğretmeni tarafından eğitim ihtiyacı olarak belirlenen “oyun ve oyuncak” konusunda, anne babaların eğitimi planlanmıştır. Aile eğitimi uygulaması öncesi, eğitim ihtiyacı duyulan konunun ana hatlarının belirlenmesi amacıyla altı yaşındaki anasınıfı öğrencileri ve annelerine oyun ve oyuncakla ilgili sorular sorulmuştur. Bu yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler sonunda, hem çocuklar hem de anneler tarafından satın alınan değil evde yapılan oyuncakların tercih edildiği, buna rağmen çeşitli sebeplerle oyuncakların hazır alındığı belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bilgiler ışığında, ailelere yönelik bir konferans planlanmıştır. Konferansta oyun ve oyuncaklar hakkında bilgi verilmiş, ailelerin oyun oynamaları ve çocukları için basit ve ekonomik oyuncaklar yapmalarına fırsat verilerek aktif katılımları sağlanmıştır. Konferans sonunda aileler, oyun ve oyuncak konusunda bilgilendiklerini ve aktif katılımdan memnuniyetlerini belirtmişlerdir. Daha sonraki günlerde bazı anneler, çocuklarıyla birlikte evde yaptıkları oyuncakları okula getirerek sınıf öğretmeni ve diğer ailelerle paylaşımda bulunmuşlardır. Konferansla ilgili olarak sınıf öğretmeni ve ailelerden olumlu geri bildirimler alınmasının ardından, aynı konuda aile eğitim ihtiyacı belirlenen dört farklı okulda daha konferans verilmiştir.

Family education programs that are carried out with the main aims of supporting the parenting skills of mothers and fathers and informing them about the child development and education are quite important. It is possible to increase the participation of parents and to reach the desired aims when the family education programs are prepared according to the needs of the parents. The aim of this study was to educate the parents about “games and toys” which were determined as an educational need by the preschool teacher of a school that was chosen as a pilot school. Some questions about the games and toys were asked to six-year-old children and their mothers in order to determine the outline of the educational need before the application process of the family education program. At the end of these semi-structured interviews, it has been found out that not only the mothers but also the children prefer home-made toys rather than the purchased ones but the toys are bought because of various reasons. In the light of the findings, a conference towards the families was planned. Information about games and toys was given during the conference and active participation of the parents was provided by letting them playing games and making simple and cheap toys for their children. Parents stated at the end of the conference that they were informed about the games and toys and contented with the active participation. Afterwards, some of the mothers shared their toys, that were made by them at home, with the class teacher and the other parents by bringing them to school. After receiving positive feedbacks from the class teacher and parents about the conference, four more conferences were held in different schools that needed family education in the same topic.
