Bu çalışma üç boyutlu Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri’nin (3B CBS) ortaöğretim coğrafya derslerinde test edilmesi, öğrenci başarısı üzerindeki etkisinin belirlenmesi ve öğrenciler tarafından nasıl algılandığının değerlendirilmesi amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir.
Çalışmada eş yükselti eğrileri ile ilgili bir 3B CBS
etkinliği İstanbul’daki üç okulda 9. sınıf coğrafya dersini alan öğrencilerle birlikte test edilmiştir. 3B CBS’nin öğrenci başarısına etkisini ölçebilmek için çalışmanın öncesinde ve sonrasında öğrencilere ön ve son test uygulanmış, etkinlikle ilgili
öğrencilerin düşüncelerinin alınabilmesi için ise bir de öz değerlendirme yapılmıştır. Çalışmada 3B CBS uygulamasının uygun yöntemlerle kullanıldığında coğrafya derslerinde öğrenci başarısını artırmada ve öğrencileri derse karşı motive etmede önemli bir potansiyel taşıdığı görülmüştür.

The aim of this study is to test 3 dimensional Geographic Information Systems (3D GIS) in secondary school geography lessons to determine its effects on students’ achievement, and to evaluate how it is perceived by students. In the study, a 3D GIS exercise prepared on contour lines tested with students in 9th grade geography lessons in three schools located in Istanbul. Pre- and post-tests were administered to the students before and after the exercise to understand how the 3D GIS exercise effected the students’ achievements from the lesson. A self-assessment was also provided to allow students to express their opinions about the exercise. As revealed in the study, the 3D GIS exercise has increased the students’ achievement in the lesson. 3D GIS has an important potential
to increase students’ achievement in geography lessons and to motivate students towards lessons if used with proper methods.
