Studies on total quality management related to education management are notable in Turkey as in other countries in the world. It has been observed that studies on total quality management and its effects on the educational practices are of utmost importance. Recent studies have also supported this issue. By means of the studies, particularly on Turkey’s European Union accession process, a great number of deficiencies in education system in Turkey have been detected. Within this frame, qualified staff and labour force are to be provided in developed and developing countries, which can only be achieved by improving the the quality of education. There are a number of researches and applied studies on quality management in education. In this study, total quality applications in education and the results concerning the study have been anlaysed with reference to literature review. In addition, some improvements and applications related to total quality management have been mentioned in the study. It is believed that the study will contribute to the administrative staff working in the field of education, students and academicians. Having evaluated the findings of the research, the significance and necessity of total quality management in the studies on education, and the need to attach importance to Research and Develop (R&G) studies on education have been discovered. Several national and international data verifying the above mentioned results have been included in the study. At the end of the study, the significance of total quality management in education in Turkey and in the world has been established. Therefore, in accordance with Turkey’s European Union accession process within the framework of the acquis on life long learning, the significance of sustainable total quality management has been stated. So, in order to create a qualified generation, studies on the quality of education and researches on the total quality management should be carried out. Further to this, this process should also be regarded as an obligation not a necessity.
