The aim of this study was to examine the emphatic skills of Physical Education and Sports teachers who work at primary and secondary schools in Kocaeli. For that purpose, Physical Education and Sports teachers whose ages were :36.22±9.09 years; years of experience :12.64±8.62 years and level of income :1306.73±358.79 and empathic skill :135.2079±16.0507, participated in the study voluntarily.
Emphatic skill scale developed by Dökmen (1998) was used in the study. In the analysis of data, descriptive statistical techniques; in the independent group t test and pearson correlation test were used. The data were tested according to the statistical program and significance level was found 0.05. It was found out that the emphatic skill points of the Physical Education and sports teachers participated in the research were :136.52±14.87, the emphatic skill points of women were :133.026±18.83, the married ones’ points were :136.25±16.02, the single ones’ points were :131±15.90; empathic points of graduated of university :135.19±16.08; empathic points of graduated of master’s degree :135.37±16.89.
At the end of the research, it was found that PE and Sports teachers had average Emphatic skills. Due to the results of the research, educational courses on empathy can be organized to improve Physical Education and Sports teachers’ Emphatic skills.
