This paper covers the legends told on the saints of Sarıkız and Kaz Dağı of
Tahtacı Turkmen villages situated inside the borders of the town of Edremit of Balıkesir.
Kaz Dağı has always been popular since the times of Greek mythology and surrounding
areas have always been a part of current civilization. This fact has led propose that the
local culture displayed a heterogeneous structure and was especially under the influence
of Christianity. This study discusses the mentioned topic through the legends and aims
to shed light on the emergence of the local culture.
