Makale Özeti: In this study it was aimed to identify whether the content of social studies and the activities carried out have the characteristics which make students gain scientific behaviours or not. There were a total number of 3570 class teachers and 155 teacher subjects of social studies in Balıkesir and vicinity during the second term of 1999-2000. The questionnaire prepared was administered to all of the teachers of social studies and to 357 classroom teachers. For the analysis of data, percentages, frequencies, t-test and vairance analysis were used. Data analyzed were tabulated, pedagogical implications of the findings and implications for further study were also given.
