Banat area has been faced with the problems of depopulation since 1970s.
There is a large number of papers related to this issue, especially in Banat border region.
In this paper the authors intend to emphasize the problems that have been occurred in
the municipalities of the central part of the Southern Banat, Pančevo and Vršac. This
paper analyzes the depopulation couses, natural growth, migrations and cinsequences of
these as well as the the depopulation changes in quotas. It has been covered the period
since 1961. Therefore, it has not been pronounced the decrease in population growth and
migration yet. At the begining of twenty-first century, the depopulation has taken serious
proportions.

Простор Баната је суочен са проблемима депопулације још
од седамдесетих година 20. века. Велики је број радова који третирају
проблематику пограничних општина и депопулацију посебно тог, пограничног
дела Баната. У овом раду аутори су имали намеру да укажу на проблеме који
се дешавају у општинама централног дела јужног Баната. Као представник
узета је општина Алибунар, која је између већих јужнобанатских центара,
Вршца и Панчева. У раду се анализирају узроци депопулације, природно и
механичко кретање становништва, као и последице депопулације, промене код
контингената становништва. Обухваћен је период од 1961. године, значи време
када још није било изражено смањење природног прираштаја и емиграције, па до
почетка 21. века, када је депопулација попримила озбиљне размере.
