In this paper we investigate the current demographic and economic situation
of the Bulgarian-Serbian border region. We pay a special attention to the permeability
of the border, the role of the actors across the border, as well as to the economic situation,
to the way how the people from this poorest region of the EU survive. We finally
comment some of the possible economic opportunities for the future development of the
zone.
