|
Caucasian tribes played an important role in the rivalries between
Ottoman Empire and Russia over Caucasia. In general, the tribes which are
considered as Ottoman subjects supported the Ottomans against Russians.
However, these tribes sometimes opposed to the agreements between Ottoman
Empire and Russia by attacking the territories near to the border. In such
circumstances, Russia made enquires for the compensation of the damages that
are made to the Russians.
