Dillerin tarihî gelişimlerini gösteren en önemli araçlar eski metinlerdir. Bu yolla genel anlamda dilin, özelde de kelime, kelime grubu ve kavramların, nasıl bir gelişme, değişme seyri gösterdiği anlaşılabilir. Bu çalışmada 15. yüzyılda Amasyalı Ali bin Hüseyin tarafından kaleme alınan Tarikü’l-Edeb adlı eserde yer alan deyimler üzerinde durulmuştur. Eser, eğitim tarihi açısından olduğu kadar Türkçenin kullanılması bakımından da dikkat çekicidir. Bu bağlamda eserde kullanılan deyimlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın başında yazar ve eser hakkında bilgiler sunulmuştur. Daha sonra eserde geçen deyimlerden, kimi günümüzde de kullanılan kimisi unutulmuş bazı örneklere yer verilmiştir. Bunların bazıları yalnızca Türkçe kelimelerden oluşurken Arapça ve Farsça kelimelerle yapılanları da vardır. Çalışmanın sonunda konuyla ilgili bazı değerlendirmeler yapılarak önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

The most important tools that show the historical development of languages are ancient texts. By this way, it can be
understood that how generally languages and particularly the words, phrases and concepts, develop or change. In
this study, it focused on the idioms contained in the Tarikü'l-Adab, penned by Ali bin Hussein Amasi in 15th century.
The book, is very important in term of education history as using of Turkish language. In this context, it is aimed to
determine the idioms used in the book. Information about the author and his work has been presented at the
beginning of the study. Then examples of many idioms some forgotten some of whom used today from the book
were presented. Some of these are formed only from the Turkish words and some made with Arabic and Persian
words. At the end of the study, some evaluations done and suggestions were made.
