Neredeyse 150 yıllık geçmişe sahip modern anlamdaki orta öğretim tarihinde liselerimiz birçok değişikliklere tabi tutulmuştur. Bu değişikliklerin birçoğu günün ihtiyaçlarına göre yapılmış fakat yapılanlar yine değişen şartlar içerisinde etkisini kaybetmeye başlamıştır. Yeni bir bininci yılın başında olduğumuz dönemde orta öğretimiz çok parçalı bir yapı sergilemektedir. Bu yapı içerisinde genel orta öğretim kurumları ve mesleki eğitime yönelik orta öğretim kurumları bulunmaktadır. Diğer taraftan bu kurumlar kendi içerisinde de farklı kısımlara ayrılmaktadır. Sonuçta farklı adla adlandırılan meslek liseleriyle beraber sistemde 100 çeşit genel ve mesleki lise bulunmaktadır. Bu farklılığı ortadan kaldırmak ve kaynakları tek bir yerde toplamak için alternatif bir öneri olarak orta öğretim kurumlarının tek bir ad altında ve yerde toplanması süreci oluşulacak lise türü ortaya konulmaya çalışılacaktır. Bu lise türü bu aşamada kampus liseleri olarak adlandırılmaktadır

Almost there has been 150 years of the history of secondary education showed several changing in the contemporary education period of Turkey. That changing was made under those conditions of that time. On the other hand, the changing has easily lost their meanings under new conditions within time. At the beginning of the new millennium, secondary education in Turkey demonstrates different kinds, types and structures. In this structure and organization, secondary education has two main organizations as general and vocational high schools. Additionally these high schools have been divided into different types under the main organizations. In the result, there are almost more than 100 different kinds of high schools as general and vocational high schools in the secondary education system of Turkey. To eliminate this differences and different kinds of secondary schools and to canalize monetary and human sources to one point, all those high schools could be brought to under one umbrella. The name of the new type of those high schools could be called Campus Type High Schools.
