Bu araştırmada Ana sınıfı öğrencileri ve İlköğretim 1. sınıf öğrencilerinin canlı-cansız kavramını anlamada hazırbulunuşluk seviyelerinin etkisi incelenmiştir. Çalışmada önce öğ-rencilerin canlı-cansız kavramları konusunda aile, çevre, iletişim araçları ve okul gibi kaynak-lardan elde ettikleri farklı bilgi seviyeleri tespit edilmiştir. Daha sonra ilgili konuların işlen-mesiyle öğrencilerde meydana gelen kalıcı kavramsal değişiklikler belirlenmiştir. Bunun için canlı ve cansız nesnelere ait resimlerin bulunduğu bir sayfalık anket formu hazırlanmıştır. Ön test ve son testlerde kullanılan anket formlarındaki nesnelerin resimleri aynı tutuldu, ancak resimlerin veriliş sırası ve örnek resimler değiştirilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar değerlendiril-miş ve canlı-cansız kavramının daha iyi öğretilebilmesi için bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

In this study, the effect of preconceptions in understanding of live and nonlive con-cepts of kindergarten and first year primary school students’ have been studied. Students’ knowledge of live and non-live concepts gained through parents or family, friends and social milieu, media and school. Later, the concepts were taught and the level of conceptual change was determined. For this, a questionnaire page containing pictures of live and non-live ob-jects was prepared. The same questionnaire page was used as pre and post-test with modifica-tions in the order of the objects and sample pictures of the objects were changed. The results were discussed and some suggestions were made for better teaching live and non-live con-cepts.
