Bu çalışmada Ege bölgesinde Manisa ili Turgutlu ilçesine bağlı Çıkrıkçı köyündeki meskenler ve çevre
ilişkisi ele alınmıştır. Köydeki geleneksel meskenler ile köyün içinde bulunduğu coğrafi çevre arasında kuvvetli bir ilişkinin var olduğu görülür. Çevrenin mesken üzerindeki en önemli etkisi, meskenin yapımında kullanılan malzeme
olarak kendini göstermektedir. Geleneksel meskenlerin inşasında en dikkat çekici özelliklerden biri, yöreye özgü bir duvar yapım şekli olan “depme duvar” dır. Çıkrıkçı köyünde meskenler genelde üç ya da dört tarafı duvarla çevrilmiş
bir avlu içindedir. Avlu içinde ahır, samanlık, saya, fırın, gibi ev eklentileri yer alır. Köydeki geleneksel meskenler, coğrafi çevre şartlarını ve yerel kültürü yansıtması açısından ayrı bir önem taşımaktadır. Ancak, ulaşımın gelişmesi,
şehirle ilişkilerin artması ve sosyoekonomik yapıdaki değişim vb. nedenlerle geleneksel meskenlerin yerini giderek yeni modern (betonarme) meskenler almaktadır.

In this study, the relationship between dwellings and environment in Çıkrıkçı is handled, which is a village in Turgutlu district of Manisa province. It is seen that there is a strong relationship between the traditional dwellings
and the environment in which the village is placed. The most important effect of environment on dwellings is seen as the material that is used in constructing the dwellings. One of the striking aspects of traditional dwelling construct is
the “depme duvar” which is one of the constructing wall styles, particular to the region. The dwellings in Çıkrıkçı village is usually in a yard which is encircled with three or four walls. There are some household things inside the yard which are barn, hayloft, shoe-upper, bakehouse and etc. The traditional dwellings in the village has a special importance because they reflect the geographical conditions and local culture. However, due to transportation developments, rising relationships with city life, changes in socio-economic life, the modern (ferroconcrete) dwellings has substituted the place of the traditional dwellings. The modern dwellings and their usages are striking due to their reflection of socio-economic and cultural changes in rural life.
