Türk-İslam devletlerinde önemli bir eğitim kurumu olan medreseler, Osmanlı Devleti’nde de önemini
korumuştur. Bu makalede, 1844 yılına ait 187 nolu İstanbul Medreseleri Nüfus Defteriyle ilgili bilgiler değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Defter, eldeki mevcut bilgilerle kısaca tanıtılmıştır. İstanbul medreseleri hakkında genel bilgi verilip, 1844 yılı İstanbul medreselerine ait nüfus defterinin transkriptinden elde edilen bilgiler ışığında defterde bulunan medresede yaşayanlar hakkında bilgiler (isim, lakap, unvan, yaş ve fizikî özellikler) ayrı ayrı
tablolarla ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır.
