Bu çalışmanın amacı, 7. sınıf fen ve teknoloji dersi “kuvvet ve hareket” ünitesinin öğretim sürecinde uygulanan iki yöntemin (öğrenci takımları başarı bölümleri tekniği ve geleneksel öğretim yöntemleri) öğrencilerin akademik başarı seviyelerindeki değişimi tespit etmektir. Çalışmanın örneklemini, 2010-2011 öğretim yılında Erzurum ili Merkeze bağlı bir ilköğretim okulunun 7. sınıflarının farklı iki şubesinde öğrenim gören toplam 50 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır.Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak; Akademik Başarı Testi (ABT) kullanılmıştır. Çalışma, 2 farklı grupta gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu gruplardan biri öğrenci takımları başarı bölümleri tekniğinin uygulandığı Öğrenci Takımları Başarı Bölümleri Grubu (ÖTBBG), diğeri ise geleneksel öğretim yöntemlerinin uygulandığı Geleneksel Öğretim Grubu (GÖG) olarak belirlenmiştir. Verilerin analizi için, tanımlayıcı istatistikler, bağımsız t testi, eşleştirilmiş grup t testi ve etki boyutları (effect sizes) kullanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, öğrenci takımları başarı bölümleri tekniğiyle öğrenim gören öğrencilerin akademik başarılarının, geleneksel öğretim yöntemleriyle öğretim gören öğrencilere göre daha üst düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir.

The aim of this study is to identify the effects of Student Teams-Achievement Divisions technique and Traditional Teaching methods on increasing 7th grade students’ academic achievements in the unit “force and motion” at the science and technology course. This study included 50 primary school students from two different classes at the 7th grade of a primary school during the 2010-2011 academic year in Erzurum. The study carried out in two different groups. One of these groups served as the Student Teams Achievement Divisions Group (STADG), using group Student TeamsAchievement Divisions technique and the second served as the Traditional Teaching Group (TTG), using the Traditional Teaching methods. The main instrument for obtaining data was the Academic Achievement Test (AAT). The data obtained on instruments were evaluated by using descriptive statistic, independent samples t test, paired sample t test and effect sizes. As the result of the research revealed that Student Teams Achievement Divisions Group (STADG) is more successful than Traditional Teaching Group (TTG)
