İnsanlık tarihi boyunca günlük hayatta kullanımıyla dişi ve er oluş kültürel değerlendirmeler sonucunda kadınlık ve erkeklik noktasında kadından ve erkekten beklenen toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin sınırlarını çizmiştir. Toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin inşa edilip yeniden üretildiği alanlardan en önemlilerinden birisi ulaştığı kişi sayısı, etkileme gücü düşünüldüğünde kitle iletişim araçlarından televizyon ve televizyonun başat ürün ve unsularından olan dizileridir. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, Aşk-ı Roman dizisindeki kadın karakterlerin temsil ettiği toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin toplumun kadına bakış açısındaki ortak inanç ve davranış biçimleriyle ne ölçüde benzeştiğini tespit etmektir. Bu amaç kapsamında nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden söylem analizi yöntemi kullanılmış, toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri hakkında bilgi verebilecek nitelikte olduğu düşünülen Solmaz, Leman ve Necla karakterleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda, Aşk-ı Roman dizisindeki kadın karakterlerin temsil ettiği toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin toplumun kadına bakış açısındaki ortak inanç ve davranış biçimleriyle benzeştiği görülmüştür. Ayrıca kadınların güzel, bakımlı olmasının, toplumun belirlediği namus kavramı normlarına uyması gerektiğinin, ev işleri ve annelik rollerinin altı çizilerek bu rollerin modernize edilerek sunulduğu tespit edilmiştir.

Throughout the history of mankind, the use of everyday life and cultural and female cultural evaluations have pushed the boundaries of gender roles in women and men as women and men. One of the most important areas in which gender roles are constructed and reproduced is the number of people reached and the series of products and elements of television and television from the mass communication media when they are considered to be influential. The main purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which the gender roles represented by the female characters in the Aşk-ı Roman serial correspond to the common beliefs and behaviors of the society in terms of women's views. Within the scope of this aim, discourse analysis method was used in qualitative research methods and Solmaz, Leman and Necla characters, which are thought to be capable of giving information about gender roles, were examined. As a result of the study, it is seen that the gender roles represented by the female characters in the Aşk-ı Roman serial are similar to the common beliefs and attitudes of the society towards women. In addition, it has been found that the fact that women are beautiful and well-groomed must conform to the norms of honor conception, which is determined by the society, and that these roles are modernized by underlining housework and maternal roles.
