This study was carried out to identify of grade 6, 7 and 8 students’ misconceptions about the erosion.
The subjects are consisting of the students receiving education in the second level of 35 elementary schools in the
city of Hatay. It was prepared open-ended questions about the topic of erosion for the students. Students’
responses to the open-ended questions were assessed based on the percentages and frequencies by doing tally.
The results of this study showed that students hold partial understandings and some misconceptions about the
concept of erosion, the factors effecting to erosion, and the effects of the structure of land to the erosion.

Bu çalışma; 6., 7. ve 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin, Erozyon ile ilgili kavram yanılgılarını tespit etmek için
yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemini, Hatay İlinde öğrenim gören 35 ilköğretim ikinci kademe öğrencisi
oluşturmaktadır. İlköğretim öğrencileri için erozyon konusunda açık uçlu sorular hazırlanmıştır. Hazırlanan
sorulara öğrencilerin verdikleri cevaplar çetele yaparak gruplara ayrılmış ve yüzde ve frekansları alınmıştır.
Araştırmanın sonuçları; öğrencilerin, Erozyon kavramı, erozyona etki eden faktörler, toprağın yapısının
erozyona etkisi hakkında eksik bilgilere ve bazı kavram yanılgılarına sahip olduklarını göstermiştir
