Yapılan çalışmada; fen ve teknoloji öğretmen adaylarının bitkilerde solunum-fotosentez konusundaki bilgi düzeylerinin kavram karikatürleri yardımıyla belirlenmesi ve sınıf düzeyi, öğrenim türü gibi farklı değişkenlere göre incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada; nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Bu amaçla çalışmaya, Celal Bayar Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim görmekte olan 192 fen ve teknoloji öğretmen adayı katılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak kavram karikatürü testi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular incelendiğinde; fen ve teknoloji öğretmen adaylarının bilgi düzeylerinin, konunun “fotosentez olayı için gerekli koşullar-ışık” ve “geceleri bitkilerde solunum-fotosentez olayı” alt başlıklarında daha yüksek olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Bu sonuçlardan yola çıkarak, kavram karikatürlerinin kullanıma ilişkin bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

The aim of this present study is to determine the level of knowledge of the science-technology teacher candidates on the issue of plant respiration and photosynthesis through concept cartoons. And, the knowledge level of the participants on the issue is examined in terms of different variables, such as grade level and type of education. The method of the study is the survey method, which is one of the qualitative research methods. For this purpose, the sample of the study consists of 192 science and technology teacher candidates studying at Celal Bayar University. The concept cartoons test was used as the data gathering tool. When the findings of the study were examined, it was seen that teacher candidates’ level of knowledge was higher on the issues of “the required conditions for photosynthesis – light” and “plant respiration at night – the photosynthesis process”. In the light of these results, certain suggestions are made about the use of concept catooons.
