Sinema, kitleleri etkilemek ve onlara yön vermek için önemli bir araçtır. Birçok fikir, sinema ile yaygınlaşıp kitleleri arkasından sürükleyebilir. Sinemanın; bir milleti geliştirmede, onlara doğruyu yanlışı göstermede önemli bir yeri vardır. Toplumu yansıtmada ayna özelliği gösteren sinema, toplumda olanları beyaz perdeye yansıtmaktadır. Türk sinemasında en çok beyaz perdeye yansıtılan konulardan biri de toplumsal cinsiyet ayrımı ve ataerkilliktir. Ataerkil yapıda kadının statüsünün, onun problem çözmeye yönelik girişimlerinin kısıtlanması, kadının çaresizliği, söz hakkının olmaması, ezilmesi; sıklıkla filmlerde karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmada toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri açısından Dilberay filminde yer alan ataerkil yapının analiz edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada Roland Barthes’in göstergebilimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada Barthes’in yan anlamları üzerinden göstergelerin analizi yapılmıştır. Film, toplumsal cinsiyet açısından göstergebilimsel analiz yöntemi ile incelendiğinde kadının ezilmişliği, ataerkil otorite, toplumda kadına verilen değer ile ilgili bulgulara ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular sonucunda Dilberay filminde toplumsal cinsiyet açısından ayrım yapıldığı ve çok sayıda ataerkil unsura rastlandığı söylenebilir.

Cinema is an important tool for influencing and shaping the masses. Many ideas can spread through cinema and drag the masses behind them. Cinema has an important place in developing a nation and showing them right and wrong. Cinema, which shows a mirror feature in reflecting the society, reflects what happens in the society on the white screen. One of the issues most frequently reflected on the silver screen in Turkish cinema is gender discrimination and patriarchy. In the patriarchal structure, the status of women, the restriction of their attempts to solve problems, women's helplessness, lack of a voice, and oppression are frequently seen in movies. This study aims to analyze the patriarchal structure in the film Dilberay in terms of gender roles. Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis method was used in the study. In the study, indicators were analyzed through Barthes' connotations. When the film was analyzed with the semiotic analysis method in terms of gender, findings about the oppression of women, patriarchal authority, and the value given to women in society were found. As a result of the findings, it can be said that the movie Dilberay is discriminated in terms of gender and many patriarchal elements are found.
