Bu çalışmanın amacı, 5E öğrenme modeli ve mevcut programın, uygulandığı öğrencilerin
fen ve teknoloji dersindeki başarılarına etkisinin karşılaştırılması ve öğrencilerin 5E öğrenme
modeli hakkındaki görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırma ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı
deneysel olarak tasarlanmış olup, örneklemini ilköğretim 4. sınıfta okuyan dört şubedeki toplam
160 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak Maddeyi Tanıyalım Ünitesi Başarı Testi ve
5E Öğrenme Modelinin Uygulanmasına İlişkin Öğrenci Görüşme Formu kullanılmıştır. Sonuç
olarak deney grubundaki öğrencilerin akademik başarılarının daha iyi olduğu belirlenmiştir
(F(1,157) =33,83; p˂0.05). Deney grubundaki öğrenciler 5E öğrenme modelinin uygulama
aşamalarına yönelik giriş ve keşfetme aşamalarında etkin olarak sürece katıldıklarını, açıklama
aşamasında eksikliklerin tamamlandığı ve tam olarak öğrenmenin gerçekleştiğini, derinleşme
aşamasında bazı etkinliklerde zorlandıklarını ve değerlendirme aşamasında kendilerinin de
sürece katıldıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Ayrıca öğrenciler diğer konuları da 5E modeline dayalı
olarak işlemek istediklerini, bu modelin daha zevkli olduğunu ve konuları daha iyi anladıklarını
belirtirken az sayıda öğrenci ise hızlı ders işlemek zorunda kaldıkları, çok fazla bilgi verilmemesi
ve bazı resimleri anlayamadıkları gibi olumsuz görüşler belirtmişlerdir

The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of 5E model and current program on the
students’ academic success in science and technology course, and to investigate the students’ opinions about 5E model. A quasi experimental design was used with pretest-posttest control
group. The sample of the study consisted of 160 students from four different classes enrolled in
Science Course in a primary school in Turkey.
An achievement test on the unit of “Let’s learn about the substance” and a student interview
form about the application of 5E model were conducted to the treatment and the control groups
as pre and post-tests as data collection tools. As a result of the analysis, it has been found out that
success of the students in the treatment group is better than of the ones in the control group (F
(1,157) =33,83; p˂0.05). According to the students in the treatment group; they were active in the
introduction and exploration phases of 5E model, deficiency was healed, and learning was fully
enhanced during the explanation phase, they had some difficulties in the elaboration phase, and
they took part in the process in evaluation phase. Furthermore, the students expressed that they
also want to study other subjects through 5E model because this model is more enjoyable and they
perceive subjects belter through this model while a few of them reported that they had to be fast,
couldn’t get adequate information and couldn’t comprehend some of the pictures.
