Bu araştırma 2005–2006 yılında uygulamaya konan Hayat Bilgisi öğretim programının
uygulamaya ne ölçüde yansıdığını belirlemek amacı ile öğretmenlerin bu ders kapsamında
etkinlikleri uygularken hangi yöntem, teknikleri kullandıklarını belirlemek amacıyla
yapılmıştır. Araştırmada betimsel yöntem kullanılarak öğretmenlerin görüşlerine başvurulmuş,
kullandıkları yöntem ve teknikler belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca Hayat Bilgisi öğretmen
kılavuzu, öğrenci ders kitapları ve çalışma kitaplarındaki etkinlikler incelenerek hangi yöntem
ve tekniklere ne oranda yer verildiği belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Sinop
merkez ve merkez köylerindeki ilköğretim birinci kademede 1. 2 ve 3’üncü sınıfları okutan
140 öğretmen oluşturmuştur. Örneklemini ise, bunların arasından rastgele seçilen 47 sınıf
öğretmeni oluşturmuştur. Bu çalışmada, Hayat Bilgisi dersinde öğretmenlerin kullandıkları
yöntemleri belirlemek için ilköğretim birinci kademedeki öğretmenlere uygulanmak üzere
20 maddeden oluşan likert tipi 5’li dereceleme ölçeği geliştirilmiş ve örneklem kapsamında
görev yapan öğretmenlere uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, öğretmenlerin Hayat Bilgisi
dersi için vazgeçilmez öneme sahip olan gezi-gözlem, inceleme gibi öğrenciyi sürece katan
yöntemlere yeterli oranda yer verilmediği görülmüştür.

This study was carried out for the purpose of to investigate to what extent the new
Knowledge of Life teaching program introduced in 2005-2006 school year has found
reflections in the practice and the extent to which teachers use some methods and
techniques in the new program. In the study, descriptive method is used and through
teachers’ own statements, the methods and techniques used by them are examined.
Moreover, Knowledge of Life course teacher manual, text books and work books are examined to determine which methods and techniques are included in them. The
universe of the study is made up by 140 teachers teaching first, second and third
graders in the primary schools of Sinop city and surrounding villages. Sampling of the
study consists of 47 teachers randomly selected among the universe. In this study, a
questionnaire consisting of 20 five-point Likert type items was developed to determine
the methods and techniques used by the teachers in teaching and learning process and
it was administered to the teachers in the sample. At the end of the study, it was found
that the teachers do not sufficiently use the methods of great importance to involve the
students in the process such as trips-observations, and exploration.
