Öğretme-öğrenme sürecinin temel unsurlarından biri araç ve materyallerdir. Araç ve
materyaller, öğretme-öğrenme sürecini desteklemek, öğretimi daha etkin ve kalıcı kılmak
amacıyla kullanılırlar. Coğrafya öğretiminde, konu ve kazanımlara uygun, kullanılan yöntem ve
teknikleri destekleyen pek çok araç ve materyal kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada; coğrafya eğitim
ve öğretiminde kullanılan materyallerin neler olduğu, materyal seçimini etkileyen faktörler,
coğrafya eğitiminde kullanılan materyaller ve 2005 coğrafya dersi öğretim programına göre
materyal anlayışı ele alınacaktır. Ayrıca, yeni programda öngörülen araç ve materyallerin
üretilmesi ve kullanılmasında; ders kitaplarının, öğretmenlerin, öğrencilerin, öğrenme
ortamlarının, okul yöneticilerinin ve velilerin değişen anlam, sorumluluk ve rollerinin neler
olduğu belirlenmeye çalışılacaktır.

The basic elements of the teaching-learning process are resources and materials, which are
used to support the teaching-learning process and to make the process much more effective and
lasting. In geography education many resources and materials are used that are appropriate for
the subject and the skills, and that support the used methods and techniques. In this study; the
materials in geography education and the facts that affect the selection of a material will be
discussed in light of the Materials in Geography Education and the Geography Curriculum 2005.
In accordance with the new geography curriculum that was influenced by the Constructivist
Approach; we will try to determine the roles, responsibilities and meanings of course books,
teachers, students, learning conditions, the school administrations and parents by means of
material selection, usage, production and improvements.
