Piyanoda pedal kullanma piyano çalmanın çok önemli bir boyutunu teşkil eder. Piyano
eğitiminin de en karmaşık konularından biridir. Pedal kullanma üst düzeyde algılama ve hassas
işitme becerisine sahip olmayı gerektirir. Doğru kullanıldığında, piyaniste eserleri yorumlamada
sayısız olanaklar tanır. Doğru pedal kullanmak için, pedal mekanizması ve türlerini tanımak,
kullanma tekniklerini bilmek, doğru yerlerde, doğru şekillerde ve doğru ölçüde uygulamak
gerekir.Bu makale de, ilgili kaynaklar incelenerek, pedal mekanizması, türleri ve kullanma
tekniklerine ilişkin bilgiler verilmiş, çeşitli müzik dönemlerinde uygulanan farklı pedal teknikleri
ve stilleri incelenmiş, ayrıca, pedal öğretimi konusuna da değinilerek piyano eğitimi içindeki yeri
ve önemi vurgulanmıştır.

Pedalling constitutes very important dimension of the piano playing. Also, it’s one of the most
complicated subjects of the piano education. Pedalling requires having perception in upper level
and sensitive ear. When it’s been used correctly, it enables to pianist countless possibilities while
performing. For correct pedalling, it’s necessary, to recognize to mechanism of the pedal, kinds
of pedal, to know to the pedalling techniques, and to apply them in correct places, correct forms
and acceptable amounts. In this article, by searching the national and foreign references which
are related to this subject, the knowledge about pedal mechanism, kinds of pedal and pedalling
techniques were given, different pedalling techniques which are applied in various music periods
were searched, also, by referring to subject of pedal instruction, the role and the importance for
the piano education were emphasized.
