In scientific studies, it's important to use common concepts. In the position of not
using the common consepts, it's impossible to form a science language. The rapid development in communication has made the usage of common concept and symbols
obligatory. Especially, in geographical researches, common usage is necessary in
expressing of physical quantities. However, it is difficult to form the common usage of
physical quantities in the group of geographical science which is at intersection point of
social and natural science group.
In the research, a beginning was performed on the subject of forming the common usage
related with widespread physical quantities in geographical studies. The usage of common
term in international field has been carried out prevalently for the 1960's. In Turkey, the
studies carried out by TSE has been published for the 1990's. But, in the group of
Geographical Science, there isn't any study aiming of determination of common standard
on the subject of physical quantities. As for the charts that are given with the publication as
textbook haven't the quality of answering the needs. In connection with the results
mentioned above this study was made as a beginning attempt and a general frame has been
draft for common using.
