This is a descriptive study on mathematics education studies in Turkey between 2009 and
2014. The study is a review of 580 articles published in mathematics education sections of 32
different journals fully accessible by Ulakbim Social Sciences Database (USSD) by method of
purposeful sampling during the 2009-2014 period. “Publication Classification Form” was
used for the review of articles. Descriptive survey study was performed on each article and
the article was reviewed in article details, discipline, article subject, data collection tools,
sampling, data analysis method categories. SPSS 16.0 and Excel software was used for data
analysis. The results were interpreted with graphics, frequency and percentage tables and
presented in descriptive form. The results show that majority of mathematics education
studies published in Turkey are done by Turkish authors, and the language of publication is
mostly Turkish. With regards to research subjects, there are more learning studies,
quantitative research methods are used more, attitude, perception, character, ability and
anxiety tests are preferred as data collection tools, and a single data collection tool is used in
most of the studies. It is found that groups of 31-100 people at the level of bachelor degree
constitute the sample and content analysis method is frequently used as the data analysis
method.
