Bu araştırma, öğretmen adaylarının zihin engelliler öğretmenliği bölümünü tercih
motivasyonlarının belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Görüşme formu kullanılarak verilerin
toplandığı araştırma, bir tarama araştırmasıdır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Bülent Ecevit
Üniversitesi Ereğli Eğitim Fakültesi Zihin Engelliler Öğretmenliği Bölümünde 2012-2013 öğretim
yılı bahar döneminde öğrenim gören 120 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Yapılan araştırma
sonucunda, zihin engelliler öğretmenliğini öğretmen adaylarının büyük çoğunluğunun iş
imkânlarının iyi olmasından dolayı tercih ettiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğretmen adaylarının çoğu
bu alanda lisansüstü eğitim yapmayı istememekte, başka bir alana geçmeyi düşünmemektedirler.
Öğretmen adaylarının çoğunluğu devlet sektöründe çalışmak istediğini belirtmiştir.

This study was conducted to determine the programme preference motivations of preservice
teachers of mentally disabled students. This study was a survey study, data was obtained from
interview form. The sample of the study is 120 preservice teacher who enrolled at the department
of mentally disabled individual education in 2012-2013 educational term at Bulent Ecevit
University, Eregli Faculty of Education. As a result of the study, it was understood that pre-service
teachers prefer this department as there are many job opportunities. Most of the preservice teachers
stated that they don’t want to do masters degree in this field, they don’t think of changing their field
of study. Besides, they stated that they mostly want to work in the state schools.
