The Northwest Anatolia has transidional climatic conditions between
Mediterranean and Black Sea climates. Geographical location and physical
geographic conditions detenrtine the prooerties of climate of the study area. In the
Northwest Anatolia, climatic characteristics of stations are very different from each
other. Relationship between climate and human life is researched in the applied
climatic researches. The determination heating need is also a subject of applied
climatic research. By using daüy average temperatures, heating need has been
determined in the Northwest Anatolia. Heating need m the Northwest Anatolia
mcreases in the direction from south to north, from sea shore to interior and from
lowland to highland. Local geographic properties are important in the formation of
heating need. Bemg 113 days in Ayvalık, the number of heating day is 291 days for
Uludağ. In subjects like house heating, standards of house building and
determination of settlement areas, heating need data can be used.
