The studies concerning the family needs and inquiries have shown that the requirement of attaining
information, being supported, being able to explain the situation of the child to the others, public services,
financial and family welfare, the education of the child are the basic needs of a parent. The requirements of
parents include their expectations from the schools in which their children attend. Defining these
expectations is important in terms of providing a more effective service. This study aims to define the
expectations of mothers whose autistic children attends to a rehabilitation center. This study has been carried
out by using qualified research methods. For data collection, among the qualified research methods, semi-
structured intervievs has been used. Mothers of ten autistic students attending a rehabilitation center in the
city center of Kocaeli have been the subjects of the study. The data collected through negotiations have been
analyzed by Content Analysis Technique. The findings have been disseminated in two categories:
expectations and suggestions

Aile gereksinimlerini belirlemeye yönelik yapılan araştırmalar, ailelerin bilgi gereksinimi, destek
gereksinim, çocuğunun durumunu başkalarına açıklayabilme, toplumsal servisler, maddi gereksinimler ve
ailenin işleyişi ile ilgili gereksinimler ve çocuğu nun eğitimine yönelik gereksinimleri olduğunu
göstermektedir. Ailelerin gereksinim ve beklentilerinin belirlenmesi, onlara daha verimli hizmet
sağlanabilmesi açısından önemlidir. Bu araştırmada otistik çocuğa sahip annelerin, çocuklarının devam
ettiği rehabilitasyon merkezlerinden beklentilerinin ve önerilerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Bu
araştırma niteliksel araştırma yöntemiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilerin toplanmasında niteliksel veri toplama
yöntemlerinden yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Kocaeli
il merkezinde bulunan bir özel eğitim ve rehabilitasyon merkezine devam etmekte olan 10 otistik öğrencinin
anneleri oluşturmaktadır. Görüşmelerden toplanan verilerin analizi içerik analizi tekniği ile yapılmıştır.
Bulgular, beklentiler ve öneriler olmak üzere iki başlıkta değerlendirilmiştir.
