Education of diabetic patients is not only an applied but also a research branch of diabetology. The efficacy of this therapeutic modality must be assessed
in accordance with the principles of evidence-based medicine. At the same time, it extends beyond the framework of standard medical actions
and implies the necessity of taking into account the psychosocial context. The main stages of the development of diabetes education at the Endocrinological
Research Centre are reviewed including evaluation of the efficacy of structured programs, cooperation with international institutions,
and development of new methods. Psychological characteristics of diabetic patients are discussed with reference to taking them into account for the
purpose of education.

Обучение больных сахарным диабетом (СД) - не только практическое, но и научное направление диабетологии. Эффективность этого
терапевтического воздействия должна оцениваться по всем правилам доказательной медицины. В то же время, оно выходит за рамки
стандартных медицинских мероприятий и требует обязательного учета психосоциального контекста.
В обзоре приведены основные этапы становления обучающего направления в Эндокринологическом научном центре МЗиСР: создание
и оценка эффективности структурированных программ, взаимодействие с международными организациями, внедрение новых методов
обучения. Представлены результаты исследований некоторых психологических характеристик больных СД и возможности их учета
в процессе обучения.
