In this study, economic analysis of farms in Harran Plain irrigated under
GAP were investigated. In 8 villages, representing research area with the respect of
natural factors and agricultural techniques, 64 farms were classified into four groups
as 1-50, 51-150 and more than 150 decare by using the method of stratified random
sampling.
According to results of the research, on the farms studied, 78.7 % of this
was owned land, 16.2 % was shared cropped and 5.1 % was rented land. The
average operated land was 70.56 decare for a farm. 76.0 % of the people who are
seven and more than seven years old know how to read and write. The family labour
force existence has been estimated 4.82 male labour force unit.
75.17 % of the active capital is land, 10.32 % is building, 0.17 % is land
cultivation, 12.50 % is tools-machines, 0.90 % is animals, and 0.94 % is revolving
fund, in the other side, 80.49% of the passive capital is real capital, 17.27 % is
rent-shared land value, and 2.24 % is loans. 38.88 % of the total costs is fixed and
61.12 % is variable costs. Average agricultural income per farm is 570546.000 TL.
90.2 % of the family income is made up of the agricultural incomes and 9.8 %
consists of external incomes, and average family income per farm is 632.290.000
TL.
