Araştırma otizmli çocukların temel kavramları ile ortalama sözce uzunlukları (OSU) arasındaki
ilişkiyi incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Ankara ilinde yaşayan 36-72
ay arasındaki otizmli 30 çocuk oluşturmuştur.
Katılımcıların engelliler için düzenlenen sağlık kurulu ve özel eğitim değerlendirme kurulu
raporlarında otizm tanısının olmasına dikkat edilmiştir. Boehm-3 Temel Kavramlar Testi (36-71 ay)
katılımcılara bire-bir uygulanarak temel kavramlar puanı elde edilmiştir. Doğal dil örneği alınarak
katılımcıların OSU’ları belirlenmiştir.
Araştırmaya katılan grubun ortalama sözce düzeyi arttıkça Boehm-3 Okul Öncesi Temel Kavramlar
Testinde yer alan kavramlardan hangilerini öncelikle öğrendikleri belirlenmiştir. Boehm Temel
Kavramlar Testi’nde yer alan üst ve en büyük kavramları tüm çocukların en başarılı olduğu
kavramlarken çevresinde ve biraz fakat çok değil kavramları tüm çocukları zorlayan kavramlar
olmuştur. OSU ile temel kavram puanı arasındaki ilişki incelendiğinde katılımcıların (r=0,60;
p<0,01) OSU ile temel kavram toplam puan ortalamaları arasındaki ilişkinin anlamlı olduğu
görülmüştür. Elde edilen bulguların bu alanda çalışan araştırmacılara ve uygulamacılara yol
gösterici olacağı düşünülmektedir.

The study was conducted to investigate the development of children with autism in terms of basic concepts and mean length of utterances (MLU). The sample of this study was consisted of 36-72 months of 30 children with autism living in Ankara City . While determining chronological ages of samples, it was important that autism and Down syndrome diagnosis in the health board report and special education evaluation report. The basic concepts scores were obtained through one-on-one application of the Boehm-3 Basic Concepts Test (36-71 months) for children in the groups of autism. Participants’ MLUs were determined by taking natural language samples.
It was determined that which concepts in the Boehm Basic Concepts Test can be primarily learned as the mean utterance level of the groups increases. While the top and the biggest concepts in the Boehm Basic Concepts Test were the most known concepts; around and some but not too much concepts were the most challenging concepts for children. When we investigated the relationship between the MLU and total basic concept score of the children with autism (r=0.60; p<0.01) were significant. It is thought that the obtained shed light for the researchers and educators in this field.
