Bu araştırma, ölçeklemede kullanılan yargı ve tepki yaklaşımlarının dayandığı temel esaslar arasındaki
farklılıkların ölçekler ve ölçeklerden elde edilen sonuçlar üzerindeki etkisini incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.
Araştırma kapsamında Likert tipi bir “Yabancı Dille Öğretime ilişkin Tutum Ölçeği” geliştirilmiştir. Likert tipi
ölçek maddeleri oluşturulan uzman grubu tarafından eşit görünümlü aralıklar ve ardışık aralıklar yöntemleriyle
ölçeklenmiştir. Uzmanların maddeleri değerlendirmeleri sonucunda Ardışık Aralıklar ve Eşit Görünümlü
Aralıklar Formu oluşturulmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda nihai formlarda yer alan ve nihai formlardan çıkarılan
maddeler açısından Ardışık Aralıklar Formu, Eşit Görünümlü Aralıklar Formu ve Likert Tipi Ölçek Formu
benzerlik göstermiştir. Ardışık Aralıklar Formu ile Likert Tipi Ölçek Formunda yer alan maddelerin
sıralamaları arasında düşük düzeyde hesaplanan ilişkinin manidar olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Ardışık Aralıklar
Formu ile Eşit Görünümlü Aralıklar Formunda yer alan maddelerin sıralamaları arasında ise negatif yönde ve
orta düzeyde manidar bir ilişki elde edilmiştir. Ardışık Aralıklar, Likert Tipi Ölçek ve Eşit Görünümlü
Aralıklar Formlarından elde edilen toplam puanlara göre bireylerin sıralamaları arasında düşük düzeyde pozitif
yönlü manidar ilişkiler hesaplanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, maddelerin yerleştirildiği ölçek konumları ve
ölçek konumlarına göre ölçek içindeki sıraları üzerinde ölçekleme yaklaşımlarının etkili olduğu bulunmuştur.

The study is conducted with the aim of analyzing the effects of the differences between the main principles of
the subject centered and stimulus centered scaling approaches on the scales and the resul ts gathered through
the scales. In this study, a Likert type scale which is entitled as “Attitude Scale towards Using Foreign
Languages as Medium of Instruction” was developed. The items of the Likert Type Scale were scaled by the
group of judges depending on the methods of the equal appearing intervals and successive categories. Basing
on evaluation of the judge group, The Form of Successive Categories and Equal Appearing Intervals were
developed. At the end of the study, The Form of Successive Categories shows similarity with the Form of
Equal Appearing Intervals and the Likert Type Scale in terms of the items which are included and not included
in the eventual forms. The relationship between rank of the items of the Form of Successive Categories and
Likert Type Scale is low and it is not significant. The relationship between rank of the items of the Form of
Successive Categories and the Form of Equal Appearing Intervals is medium and it is significant. The
relationships between the rank of the subjects according to their total score which they obtained from the forms
of Successive Categories, Equal Appearing Intervals and Likert Type Scale are low and they are significant. At
the end of the study it is concluded that the scaling approaches have effects on t he position of the items on the
scale and their ranks.
