The aim of this study is to determine the opinions and expectations of gifted and
talented students related with the biology project studies realized in science and art centers
(BİLSEM). The study was performed with 46 gifted and talented students proceeding to two
BILSEMs located in Marmara region in 2012-2013 academic year. In the study qualitative research
method was used. Data was collected by “Opinions and Expectations of Gifted and Talented
Students About Biology Project Studies Survey” and the data analysis was performed according
to content analysis method. At the end of the study it was determined that the biology project
study aims of gifted and talented students were to learn new information about their subjects of
interest and apply the information they learned. It was determined that students needed to make
scientific research, project preparation and educations supporting creativity. It was determined
that gifted and talented students prefer group study rather than individual study in projects
where personal features of biology consultant teachers are as important as their professional
features. Besides it was also determined that students have expectation for support from
environment, family and teacher support, interest and appreciation in order to be motivated for
biology project studies.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, üstün zekâlı ve yetenekli öğrencilerin Bilim ve Sanat Merkezlerinde
(BİLSEM) gerçekleştirdiği biyoloji proje çalışmalarına ilişkin görüş ve beklentilerinin
belirlenmesidir. Çalışma, 2012-2013 eğitim-öğretim yılı güz döneminde Marmara Bölgesi’nde
bulunan iki BİLSEM’e devam eden 46 üstün zekâlı ve yetenekli öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir.
Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Veriler, ‘Üstün Zekâlı ve Yetenekli Öğrencilerin
Biyoloji Proje Çalışması Öncesine İlişkin Görüş ve Beklentileri Anketi’ ile toplanmış olup, verilerin
analizi içerik analiz yöntemine göre yapılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, üstün zekâlı ve yetenekli
öğrencilerin biyoloji proje çalışması amaçlarının onların ilgili ve meraklı olduğu konularda yeni
bilgiler öğrenmek ve öğrendiklerini uygulamaya geçirmek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin
biyoloji proje çalışmaları öncesinde bilimsel araştırma yapma, proje hazırlama ve yaratıcılığı
destekleyici eğitimlere ihtiyaç duyduğu tespit edilmiştir. Üstün zekâlı ve yetenekli öğrencilerin
biyoloji danışman öğretmenlerinin mesleki özelliklerinin yanında kişisel özelliklerinin de önemli
olduğu ve projelerde bireysel çalışmadan daha çok grup çalışması yapmayı tercih ettikleri
belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, öğrencilerin biyoloji proje çalışmalarına motive olması için çevre, aile ve
öğretmenlerinin desteği, ilgisi ve beğenisi ile ilgili beklentilerinin olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
