Makale Özeti:
|
The Arabs in Nort Arabia were well acquainted with urban life and had
developed in Mecca and Medina a considerable urban civilazition. For the begining
of this urbanization we must go back to Arabia proper.
That the process of urbanization assumed such proportions in the early
centuries of Islamic expansion was due not to military or political considerations
alone, but also to the new religion of Islam. In origin and substance Islam, like
Judaism, is an urban religion. The spirit of the Koran is basically urban, antinomadik.
Besides, the five pillars of Islam could be regularized effectively only in
a stable settlement and not in a tentdwelling society.
Shortly the city became the citadel of faith.
