Since the establishment of Israel State, although initiatives of many states
and international organisations Israel-Palestine conflicts that caused by
political, ideological and religious effects besides existential reasons has not
been resulted in any concrete solution till-date. The aim of this study is to
analyze the major diplomatic efforts and key issues in the Israel-Palestine
conflicts and peace negotiations in the light of historical informations,
international law and especially international human rights law. Accordingly at
first, commitments of Israel and Palestine towards international law were
investigated, thereby analyzing Camp David and Oslo Accords that had played
a significant role for normalizing the situations relatively in the Middle East and
Israeli occupation vis-à-vis Palestinian intifadas. After that, advisory opinion of
the International Court of Justice (ICJ) stating that presence of Israel in the
region is contrary to the international law, war crime and crime against
humanity in the region, Palestinian membership in the International Criminal
Court (ICC) and the nuclear deal of Iran with six major powers of the world and
its impacts on the peace negotiations were analyzed in the light of
international law. Subsequently, in the context of Israel-Palestine conflicts
resolution by diplomatic efforts, especially initiatives of European Union for
durable peace in the region was addressed. Nowadays, new perspectives of
many western countries towards durable peace between Israel and Palestine
and recognition of the State of Palestine by a large majority of the world’s
states gives us hope about resolution of the crisis between the two states.
