Bu araĢtırmanın amacı, Osmanlı Devleti’nin son dönemlerinde eğitimci Sabri Cemil tarafından Üsküp’te çıkarılan Yeni Mektep dergisinde yer alan makaleler ıĢığında, dönemin Avrupa ülkelerindeki eğitim alanında meydana gelen geliĢmeleri incelemektir. AraĢtırmada, betimsel yaklaĢım çerçevesinde doküman incelemesi yapılmıĢtır. Yeni Mektep dergisinin tüm sayıları Osmanlı Türkçesinden transkript edilmiĢ ve metinler günümüz Türkçesine aktarılmıĢtır. AraĢtırmanın evrenini 1911-1913 yıllarında 14 sayı olarak yayımlanan Yeni Mektep dergisi oluĢturmaktadır. AraĢtırmanın örneklemi ise konu ile ilgili makalelerin yer aldığı Yeni Mektep dergisinin 5. sayısıdır. AraĢtırmada elde edilen verilerin çözümlenmesinde içerik analizi kullanılmıĢtır. Avrupa ülkelerinde eğitim alanındaki geliĢmeler; okulların ve öğretmenlerin durumu, okul-aile iliĢkileri, zorunlu eğitim, eğitime baĢlama ve tamamlama yaĢı, ders kitaplarının belirlenmesi, din ve ahlak derslerinin durumu, okulların geleceği baĢlıkları altında her ülke ayrı ayrı incelenmiĢtir. AraĢtırmadan elde edilen bulgular ıĢığında, 1911-1913 yıllarında Avrupa ülkelerinin eğitim alanındaki durumları ile ülkemizin günümüz eğitim durumu karĢılaĢtırılmıĢ ve eğitim sistemimizdeki aksayan yönlerin giderilmesine yönelik çeĢitli öneriler getirilmiĢtir.

This study aims to investigate the developments in the European education of the period in the light of articles published in the Journal of Yeni Mektep, issued by educator Sabri Cemil in Skopje in the final period of the Ottoman Empire. In the study, document analysis was performed within the framework of the descriptive approach. All issues of the Journal of Yeni Mektep were transcribed from Ottoman Turkish and the texts were adapted to modern Turkish. The study population consists of 14 issues of the Journal of Yeni Mektep, published between 1911 and 1913. And, the sample of the study consists of the 5th issue of the Journal of Yeni Mektep, which includes 5 articles on the subject matter. The content analysis was used to analyze the data obtained in the study. Countries were examined separately under the following categories: developments in the field of education in European countries, the statuses of schools and teachers, family-school relationships, compulsory education, the starting and ending age of education, determining the textbooks, the status of religion and moral courses, and the future of the schools. In the light of findings obtained in the study, the educational statuses in European countries in 1911-1913 were compared with the current educational status of Turkey, and various recommendations were made to eliminate the defects in Turkey's education system.
