Edebî eserler, hiç şüphesiz yaşadığı toplumun tarihî ve sosyal çevresiyle yakından ilgilidir ve asırlardan beri kadim milletlerin toplumsal hafızaları olarak varlıklarını devam ettirmişlerdir. Edebî eserler içerisinde manzum ve mensur pek çok türe rastlamak mümkündür. Bu türler içerisinde ise “hikâye”nin yeri azımsanmayacak kadar önemlidir. Diğer edebî türlerde olduğu gibi hikâyeler de milletin ruhundan doğmuş, halkın değerlerini konu almış ve barındırdığı zengin kültürel mirası ile halkın millî özünü en iyi ifade eden türlerden biri olarak var olmuştur. Bu yönüyle bakıldığında Klâsik hikâyelerimiz içerisinde zikredilmesi gereken en önemli hikâyelerden birisi de şüphesiz Temîmü’d-Dârî hikâyeleridir. Arap kayanaklı bir hikâye olan Temîmü’d-Dârî hikâyeleri şahıs, mekân ve olay örgüsü bakımından Arap kültürüne dair unsurlar barındırmakla birlikte; asırlar boyunca Türkler arasında okunması, yazılması ve anlatılması sebebiyle içerisinde Türk dil ve kültürüne ait pek çok unsuru barındırmaktadır.

Literary works are undoubtedly closely related to the historical and social milieu of the society in which they live, and have
continued to exist as social memories of the formerly nations for centuries. It is possible to find many kinds of poetic and
prose in literary works. In these species, the position of "story" is so important that it is not underestimated. As it is in other
literary genres, the stories are born with the spirit of the nation, existed as one of the richest cultural heritage that the
people have taken up the values of the people and the species that best expresses the national essence of the people. From
this point of view, one of the most important stories mentioned in our classical stories is undoubtedly Temimü'd-Darı stories.
The stories of Temimü'd-Darı, originally is an Arabic story; with the elements of Arab culture in terms of person, space and
event organization; It contains many elements belonging to Turkish language and culture because of reading, writing and
telling among Turks for centuries.
