İnsanların duygu ve düşüncelerini aktarmada şiir büyük bir öneme sahiptir. Bu gerçek Hz. Peygamber tarafından da dile getirilmiş ve asr-ı saâdette şiir karşıt düşüncelerle mücadele aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Hz. Peygamber’in izinden giden sahabe de şiiri sosyal ve ilmî yaşamında kullanmıştır. Şiire İslami ilimler içerisinde özellikle tefsir ilminde başvurulmuştur. Ağırlıklı olarak ayetlerin anlamlarına açıklık kazandırmak ya da yorumu zenginleştirmek için başvurulan şiirin yer yer tefsir ilmini, bir müfessiri, tefsir eserini övmek ya da eleştirmek yahut da eserin içeriği hakkında bilgi vermek için kullanıldığı da görülmektedir. Çoğunluğu Osmanlı medreselerinde okutulan eserler ve müellifleri hakkında olmakla birlikte çeşitli dönemlerde yaşamış şahıslarla onların tefsir eserleri hakkında şiirler yazılmıştır. Bu şiirler bize tefsir ilminin öneminin yanı sıra bu ilmin edebiyatla olan bağını ve de yazıldığı dönemde insanların tefsir ilmi ve tefsir eserleri ile bu eserlerin müelliflerine ilişkin bakış açısı ve tutumlarına ışık tutması açısından da önemlidir.

The poetry has got a great importance in expressing the people’s emotions and opinions. This fact was mentioned by The Prophet and the poetry was used as a struggle tool against the opposite side during the first two centuries of Islam. The companions whom followed The Prophet’s foot steps also used the poetry in the social and scientifc life. The poetry among the Islamic Sciences was used especially in the tafseer discipline. Usually, the poetry was used in order to explain the verses’ meanings or to strengthen the interpretation but sometimes it is also proven to be used to praise or criticise a mufasseer or a tafseer work or to give information about the content of the work. Being vast majority of them about the works which were taught in Ottoman Madrasahs and their authors, other poems were also written about different authors from different time periods and their tafseer studies. These poems are important because they give us information about the significance of Tafseer discipline and its relation with literature, alongside the general idea of the people about tafseer discipline, tafseer works and their authors.
