The Turkish Media in Germany has assumed important tasks to inform and educate the Turks who migrated to that country and sometimes made different attempts to solve their problems. Within this scope, campaigns have been organized occasionally aimed at educating children of Turks living in Germany. One of these campaigns is called Lernen macht stark. The first step of this project was taken in 2011 with a campaign entitled Lesen macht Spaß (Reading Entertains) in collaboration with Metropol FM, which broadcasts in Turkish and German, Reading Foundation (Stiftung Lesen) and Robert Bosch Foundation. The purpose of this study is to investigate the educational function of the Turkish media in Germany from the perspective of Turkish parents within the scope of the Lernen macht stark! campaign. The study attempted to discover to what extent the Lernen macht stark! campaign, which was conducted for 10 weeks in 2014, was followed by Turkish parents living in Germany and to what extent they found the videos prepared within the scope of this campaign were found informative. In this sense, a total of 22 people (11 women and 11 men) aged between 23 and 58 who lived in Hamburg, Germany were interviewed using the problem-based interview technique and the data collected in this way were analyzed. Occasionally, important statements of interviewees were also included in the study. Although the data obtained as a result of this study were not very comprehensive in regard to quantity, qualitatively, it helped identify some important and interesting findings because no studies had been conducted on the topic before. In this context, it was seen that data had emerged which could serve as a basis for a more comprehensive quantitative study with an extended sample.
