Makale Özeti: Iran has been considered among the major players in the region due to its geopolitical position in Eurasia. Since the mid-1970s, it has been striving for expanding its sphere of influence and gaining an upper hand within other countries in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East. Iran wanted to improve in terms of conventional weapons and defense sense and perform the its desires in the region and Iran countinued its actions in this direction after Islamic Revolution in 1979, too. In the Post-Cold War era, Iran signed several agreements on conventional arms especially Russia China and redesigned in accordance with technological conditions its military power in the region. Iran's actions in the region provide field of interest to global players and this region was the sphere of influence between Russia, China and USA. Iran increased steadily arming power in the mids-2000s and intimidated to potential competitors in the region. Iran made significant changes, especially in the defense capacity with the support of Russia and China and accelerated its actions against the threat US and Israel in the nuclear sense. Especially Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries who are afraid of Iran’s efforts to export its revolutionary ideology to other countries are in the belief that nuclear proliferation activities of Iran would damage regional stability and security. In this context, Iran's actions gained importance for ensuring security and stability in the Middle East. This paper has tried to analyze effects of Iran’s proliferation activities on regional and global security, and revolves around the issues such as who are the major arms suppliers of Iran, what kind of weapons have been produced by Iran. It also addressed periodical armament relations of Iran along with its conventional armament and nuclear activities within the context of interests of big powers in the region.
