Makale Özeti: In this study, it is aimed to examine the Social Self-sufficiency and problem solving ability of the students of Giresun University, Physical Education and Sport Department. The study group of this research includes 103 students who attends Giresun University, Physical Education and Sport Department. The analysis of the data of this research, being a description study, is realized using SPSS 17.00 statistic package programme by the computer. The results that will be gained from the survey is limited with the students that are the sample of the survey who study in the 1st, 2nd,and 3rd grades of physical education and sports department in Giresun university in 2014 -2015 education year . As a result, it is discovered that there is no remarkable difference between the girl and boy students points in terms of sex, the high school type they graduated from, the number of books they read excluding their school books and according to the type of help they get to solve the problems related to the social self- sufficiency. It is discovered that there are substantial differences according to the class levels of Physical Education and Sport Teaching Department students in terms of total self- sufficiency levels. It is discovered that there is no remarkable difference in the scores of boy and girl students acording to the results obtained by the type of the support in solving the problems and theris sexes, class levels, the number of books they read excluding the school books when it comes to problem solving ability. On the other hand, it is discovered that there is a remarkable difference between the scores of the students who are graduates of an ordinary high vocational high school in the ability of problem solving in terms of the type of high school they graduated from.
