Art education can be called as “the effort of having people to grow up and make them conscious of art and
culture”. Art education, both in theoretical and practical ways, includes plastic arts and sometimes other areas of
art. As art education also includes practical works, it is known that it has a huge effect on creativity. It is thought
that, as the human being changes his perceptions on the external world by the help of art education; he/she becomes
more creative, more self-confident, productive and willing to have positive effect upon his social environment.
In this article; issues such as the importance of art education on improving the creativity, importance of all
kind of changes on environment, and that by the help of multi-sided art education, more creative people can be made
will be discussed. Also; the research has been limited only by the primary schools (6t, 7th and the 8th grades). Some
problems about the art education in primary schools and some possible solutions to those problems have also been
discussed

Sanat eğitimi, bireylerin sanat ve kültür alanlarında yetiştirilip, bilinçlendirilme çabasıdır. Kuramsal ve
uygulamalı çalışmalarla verilen sanat eğitimi kimi zaman sadece plastik sanatları, kimi zaman da diğer sanat
dallarını da içerisine alır. Sanat eğitimi süreci uygulamalı çalışmaları da içerdiğinden dolayı yaratıcılığı etkilediği
bilinmektedir. Çok yönlü verilen bir sanat eğitimi ile dış dünyayı algılaması değişen bireyin, daha yaratıcı, kendine
güvenen, üretici, çevresini olumlu yönde değiştirmeye ve yeni biçimler vermeye çalışan biri olacağı düşünülmektedir.
Bu makalede sanat eğitiminin yaratıcılığı geliştirmede önemli bir yer tuttuğu ve bunun için çevrede
meydana gelen her türlü gelişmenin izlenmesi gerektiği ve çok yönlü verilen bir sanat eğitimi ile daha yaratıcı
bireyler yetiştirilebileceği tartışılacaktır. Ayrıca, araştırma ilköğretim okullarıyla sınırlandırılmıştır (ilköğretimden
kasıt 6, 7 ve 8. sınıflar). İlköğretim okullarında verilen sanat eğitimi derslerinde yaşanan birtakım sorunlar ve çözüm
önerileri de üzerinde durulan konular olmuştur.
