Bu araştırmanın amacı; beden eğitimi öğretmeni adaylarının benlik saygıları ve öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutumlarını bazı değişkenlere göre incelemek ve benlik saygıları ile tutumları arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. Çalışmaya, üç farklı üniversitenin beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmenliği bölümünde öğrenim gören 469 öğretmen adayı gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak; ‘Coopersmith Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği’ ve ‘Öğretmenlik Mesleğine İlişkin Tutum Ölçeği’ kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda beden eğitimi öğretmeni adaylarının, benlik saygılarının sınıf, anne eğitim durumu, baba eğitim durumu, algılanan akademik başarı durumu ve gelir durumu değişkenine göre; öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutumlarının ise algılanan akademik başarı durumu değişkenine göre farklılaştığı; ayrıca beden eğitimi öğretmeni adaylarının benlik saygıları ile öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutumları arasında pozitif yönde ancak düşük düzeyde bir korelasyon olduğu görülmüştür.

The aim of this study was to investigate pre-service physical education teachers’ self-esteems and their attitudes toward teaching profession according to some variables and to determine the relationship between their self-esteems and the attitudes. 469 pre-service teachers studying at the physical education and sport teaching departments from three different universities took part in the study voluntarily. ‘Coopersmith’s Self-Esteem Inventory’ and ‘Attitude Scale toward Teaching Profession’ were used to collect data as the instruments in the study. The findings of the study showed that there were significant differences between pre-service physical education teachers’ their self-esteems and their grades, education levels of parents, academic success levels and income levels and between their attitudes toward teaching profession and their academic success levels. Also, a low but positive correlation was observed between pre-service physical education teachers’ self-esteems and their attitudes toward teaching profession.
