This research, which was in a qualitative research design, was performed for the purpose of determining the problems that teachers encounter during the candidacy process. The target population of this research consists of the primary school teachers who are working as teacher candidates at 2008-2009 academic year in Elazığ city. As the sample group, forty nine teachers were selected with convenience sampling method. Data were obtained through a ten-itemed structured interview form which was prepared by the researchers and analyzed by NVivo 7 program. The results of the research showed that candidate teachers mostly; experience orientation problems to the profession and to their schools, did not take enough guidance and support, viewed the in-service training as insufficient, indicated that there are differences between graduate education and practice and they experience problems about these matters.

Nitel araştırma yaklaşımı çerçevesinde yürütülen bu çalışma, öğretmenlerin adaylık sürecinde karşılaştıkları problemleri belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2008-2009 akademik yılında Elazığ ilinde aday öğretmenlik statüsünde görev yapan ilköğretim okulu öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma grubu olarak kırk dokuz öğretmen, kolay ulaşılabilir durum örneklemesi yöntemiyle seçilmiştir. Veriler, araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan ve on sorundan oluşan yapılandırılmış bir görüşme formuyla elde edilmiş ve NVivo 7 programı ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, öğretmenlerin en çok; mesleğe ve okula uyum problemi yaşadıkları, yeterince rehberlik ve destek almadıkları, hizmet içi eğitimi yetersiz gördükleri, lisans eğitimi ile uygulama arasında farkların olduğunu belirttikleri ve bu konularda problem yaşadıkları tespit edilmiştir.
