In this study, it is aimed to determine the opinions of science and technology teachers on the importance of history of science and how they integrate history of science in their lessons. The study group was composed of 21 science and technology teachers. A form made up of open ended-questions was used as data collection tool. The collected data was evaluated through content analysis. At the end of the study, it is determined that science and technology teachers do not have sufficient understanding of the importance of history of science. Teachers, who were the subject of the research, mostly focus on conceptual aspect of science and accordingly they include history of science in their science lessons in order to provide scientific knowledge to the students. It is found that they generally do not focus on how science operates, how scientists conduct a research, under which conditions the studies are conducted and how social, cultural and economic characteristics impact these studies.

Bu çalışmada, fen ve teknoloji öğretmenlerinin fen eğitiminde bilim tarihinin önemi ile ilgili düşüncelerinin ve derslerinde bilim tarihine nasıl yer verdiklerinin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma grubunu 21 fen ve teknoloji öğretmeni oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan bir form kullanılmıştır. Bulgular içerik analiziyle değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma sonunda, fen ve teknoloji öğretmenlerinin bilim tarihinin önemi ile ilgili yeterli anlayışa sahip olmadıklarını tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmaya konu olan öğretmenlerin; bilimin daha çok kavramsal yönü üzerinde durdukları, dolayısıyla öğrencilere bilimsel bilgi verme çabası içerisinde bilim tarihine yer verdikleri görülmüştür. Bilimin nasıl işlediği, bilim insanlarının bir araştırmayı nasıl yürüttüğü, çalışmaların hangi koşullarda yapıldığı, toplumsal, kültürel, ekonomik özelliklerin bu çalışmaları nasıl etkilediği üzerinde genellikle durmadıkları tespit edilmiştir.
