Bu çalışmada sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının sosyal bilgiler dersine ve sosyal bilgiler öğretmenine ilişkin sahip oldukları metaforların ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmaktadır. Nitel araştırma desenlerinden olgubilim deseninde gerçekleştirilen araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2012-2013 eğitim öğretim yılında Çukurova Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenliği Anabilim Dalı’nda öğrenim gören 120 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin analizinde betimsel analiz kullanılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında katılımcılar 11 farklı kategoride metafor üretmiştir. Bu metaforlar ortak özellikleri doğrultusunda sosyal bilgiler dersine ilişkin “yaşamsal/toplumsal, disiplinlerarası, bilgi ve iletişim” kategorileri olmak üzere 4 kategori; sosyal bilgiler öğretmenine ilişkin “rehber, öğrencileri yetiştiren, öğrencileri şekillendiren, araç-gereç temin eden, toplum içinde kendini geliştiren kişi olarak öğretmen, otoriter öğretmen ve bilgi aktaran öğretmen” olmak üzere 7 farklı alt kategori altında toplanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulardan hareketle öğretmen adaylarının sosyal bilgiler dersine ilişkin oluşturduğu metaforlar sosyal bilgiler dersinin toplumsallaştırma ve disiplinler arası boyutuna vurgu yaparken, sosyal bilgiler öğretmenine ilişkin ürettikleri metaforlar sosyal bilgiler öğretmeninin rehber, öğrencilerini şekillendiren ve yetiştiren yönüne vurgu yapmaktadır.

In this study, the revealing of metafors which candidate teachers of social studies have, on social studies and teachers of social studies is intended. This research was carried out in the case of qualitative research design pattern science. The study group of research is formed from 120 candidate teachers who study at the Department of Social Studies Education in Cukurova University in the 2012-2013 academic year. Descriptive analysis has been used to analyze the data. In the research the participants have produced metaphor in 11 different categories. These metaphors have been gathered considering common cahacteristics related to the social studies as “life/social, interdisciplinary, information and communication” four categories; related to the teachers of social studies as “guide, which educate the students, which shape the students, transfer, which provide the tools, as the teacher who improve himself in the community” including seven different categories. With the findings stemming from while metaphors, which are formed by candidate teachers for social studies, emphasize the aspect of socializing and interdisciplinary of social studies; metaphors which are produced for the teachers of social studies emphasize the aspect of guide, which shape the students and which transfer the knowledge of socialstudies teachers.
