In this paper, some examples from Kazakh legends which are called as
'ertegi' in Kazakh Turkish, are given. Before this, some information about Kazakh
Turks and today's Kazakhstan is reported. Then, the phonetic and morphological
tongue characteristics of Kazakh Turkish which is the 'Northwest' sector of Turkish
language, are attmpted to be showed. Whilst these are given, Kazakh Turkish is
compared to Turkey Turkish and also Old Turkish. Some examples are presented to
reveal these characteristics. Firstly, trascnption of the legends which used animal
characters and are written for children to teach some lessons and give advice, is
introduced. Then, their translation into Turkey Turkish is presented. The translation
is generally word by word but, in some places it ıs in the free style in order to ensure
successful narration.
