The article deals with studying of the motivational-meaning, instrumental-style and personal characteristics of self-realization, and also meaning-sense motives of self-realization of the youth. The authors offer an overview of sources on this problem, as well as results of a survey of young people of the Academy of Biology and
Biotechnologies of the Southern Federal University. As a result of the theoretical review the essence of the concept “self-realization”
is allocated, preferences of researchers in a choice of empirical object are described. Material novelty of research consists in studying of features of self-realization of students of non-socionomic type of professions. According to the survey findings at young women and young men in expressiveness of the internality relating to
instrumental-style characteristics of self-realization were established.
It is revealed that the sociocentric installations of the self-realization prevail at young girls in comparison with young men. In process of a growing at young girls expressiveness of instrumental-style characteristics undergoes changes (internality), and at young men motivational-meaning characteristics (conservatism) change.
Interrelations between motivational-meaning characteristics (creativity, constructibility, sociocentricity) and meaning-sense motives (motive of achievement as process and as result, cooperative motive as result) self-realization are found only at young girls. Both at young girls, and at young men it isn’t revealed interrelations between personal characteristics and meaning-sense motives of self-realization. The students training in Academy of Biology and Biotechnologies are characterized three types of self-realization: complex, predictive and not created. Absolute majority of students realize the complex type of self-realization including all considered characteristics of self-realization.
